Heritage Vineyard- wine, food and more!

Image
Wine has always been considered a connoisseur's forte! May be because it isn't like other alocoholic beverages or it's patrons are usually members of the elite class. Famous vineyards of Tuscany or France are any traveler's dream come true. But till I get a chance to visit any of those, I was thinking why not have a humble beginning by visiting a Vineyard in our very own Namma Bengaluru! There aren't many options if your'e looking for a Vineyad tour in Bengaluru as it is still a budding industry. There is a Grover Vineyard near Nandi Hills and Heritage Vineyard which is on the Mysore road. Having read the reviews for both on TrpAdvisor, I decided to visit Heritage Vineyard as it had better ratings. This was back in 2015, may be around September-October. But after realising that it was not a good season as there would be no grapes in the Vineyard, I postponed my visit. Indian grapes ripen in the months of February-March and are harvested in the month of ...

Back!

It feels as if it's been ages the last time I posted something. But then five years is a long time! Blog or no blog life goes on but off late I'd been feeling a kind of uneasiness. That feeling of missing something in life even when things are on the sunny side. As if there is a bug in my head that doesn't let me lie in peace. So here I'm. Back to hurl my questions at the universe. Not in expectation of an answer or a reply but more for the sake of just being out there. The roller-coaster of life has played well in the past few years. Granted me a Post-Graduate degree, introduced me to the Corporate world, showed me how even different jobs, companies or bosses ultimately boils down to the same thing- being happy. I realised (something that I always knew to start with) that my passion is in travelling. Near, far, here, there. Everywhere. And that I love trying out new things. Whatever it is. May it be scuba diving (what if I don't know how to swim!) or act i...

Karnataka Habba- A riot of colors and culture

Image
Though two days weekend seems so short most times, there are times when it seems to drag when you've nothing much to do. That is when Bengaluru comes out in it's full glory with many festivals and events and celebrations. Another reason why I just love Namma Bengaluru. On one such weekend of late Feb- 27th, 28th of 2016 to be specific was when I read about the Karnataka Habba (ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಹಬ್ಬ) going on at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat. Now this is one heaven for art and culture lovers. There will always be events, plays, art and painting exhibitions going on at Chitrakala Parishat and a visit is never complete without having the filer kaapi at the Kamat Lokaruchi on the premises. We knew taking the car was a bad idea but it was three of us and we didn't have any choice. Parking is always a problem there and we made a full round of the Kumara Krupa road before finding parking space in a small bylane further up. Even though it was only 4.30, place was filled to the brink ...
Just now finished Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'. Disappointed and more confused. All his books start with some ancient mystery guarded by secret societies, evil forces tracing the legends and ultimately when the truth unveils its stark naked. Simple. On your face. However, that is not what is disappointing or confusing to me. In his most famous work 'Da Vinci Code' he tells about a truth powerful enough to uproot the basis of Christianity, a secret guarded safely for over a millenia and what is THE TRUTH? that a woman named Mary Magdalene was married to Jesus and bore his progeny. Why was she so important? because she was a direct descendant of one of the most powerful families and their union marked the coming together of the king David and Solomon's families. That's all? history has seen numerous kings and dynasties flourish and perish. Why should this matter so much? and according to them Jesus was just a mortal, like all of us. a good preacher and pro...

I have always loved animals. Cats and dogs specially. My mom still tells me the stories of how i used to hold our cat in one hand and suck my thumb in another when i was a kid! Naming pets is something that people do out of whim. May be on how they feel when they first look at the animal or how it behaves etc. our first cat was named 'ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಡುಮ್ಮಿ ' literally meaning 'fat tummy'! that's because it used to sincerely give birth to 3 kittens every 3 months! kittens usually die young or just disappear. However the one we kept was named 'ಚಿನ್ನಿ'. It had golden fur. a tom cat. Now we have its girlfriend at home which i've named 'bekkanna' even though its a female cat. 'curiosity killed the cat' they say. But i guess that's the nature of cats. climbing on trees, trying to catch birds are all in a day's work for our cat! it plays till eternity with a wire or a string, trying to catch it! fighting with our dog is one more daily chore! ...
