Just now finished Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'. Disappointed and more confused. All his books start with some ancient mystery guarded by secret societies, evil forces tracing the legends and ultimately when the truth unveils its stark naked. Simple. On your face. However, that is not what is disappointing or confusing to me. In his most famous work 'Da Vinci Code' he tells about a truth powerful enough to uproot the basis of Christianity, a secret guarded safely for over a millenia and what is THE TRUTH? that a woman named Mary Magdalene was married to Jesus and bore his progeny. Why was she so important? because she was a direct descendant of one of the most powerful families and their union marked the coming together of the king David and Solomon's families. That's all? history has seen numerous kings and dynasties flourish and perish. Why should this matter so much? and according to them Jesus was just a mortal, like all of us. a good preacher and pro

I have always loved animals. Cats and dogs specially. My mom still tells me the stories of how i used to hold our cat in one hand and suck my thumb in another when i was a kid! Naming pets is something that people do out of whim. May be on how they feel when they first look at the animal or how it behaves etc. our first cat was named 'ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ಡುಮ್ಮಿ ' literally meaning 'fat tummy'! that's because it used to sincerely give birth to 3 kittens every 3 months! kittens usually die young or just disappear. However the one we kept was named 'ಚಿನ್ನಿ'. It had golden fur. a tom cat. Now we have its girlfriend at home which i've named 'bekkanna' even though its a female cat. 'curiosity killed the cat' they say. But i guess that's the nature of cats. climbing on trees, trying to catch birds are all in a day's work for our cat! it plays till eternity with a wire or a string, trying to catch it! fighting with our dog is one more daily chore!
